Insert (!) above head.

A.. Is it a post? Why.. yes, yes it is! Actually, it's just a bit of an update to say that we still exist, and we will indeed return to v-logging soon. As for the news part.. That depends.. Since there are so many news sites out there, we may keep our focus to what we consider interesting (which arguably may or may not be interesting to yourselves) as well as articles and reviews...

That being said, right now on XBL you can find a demo for Tomb Raider: Underworld, and on both XBL and PSN there is a demo for up-coming Mirror's Edge.

I've loved Tomb Raider since the original. I'm hardly fan-boyish enough to bluff myself into believing that the sodden shite that was Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness was good, nor will I defend the fact that the series is just milking (haha..) Lara for all she's worth. But the games somehow strike a chord with me. Whilst Legend didn't really capture the feeling, (indeed, aside from 1, 3 (lost chapters), 4, and what seems to be 8 (underworld)), most of the Tomb Raider franchise was lacking in charm. Tomb Raider: Underworld, or at least it's demo, reminded me oh so much of the Tomb Raider III expansion pack. It was absolutely stunning to look at, not just for a Tomb Raider game, but as far as graphics go, it was a joy. The engine has finally given us the huge, spectacular, overgrown tombs we had always wanted to plunder.

Lara herself moves more like a gymnast on speed compared to her first incarnation. Her move set is expanded from previous games, the controls are tight enough that it feels good, and her movements are responsive and (mostly) accurate. I'll admit there were a few times whilst shimmying along an edge where Lara would seem to stuff up her hand-holds around a corner and invariably fall to her doom (replete with a satisfactorily bone-crunching sound).

Running, climbing, swimming, swinging, diving and crawling around Thailand was a treat for a Tomb Raider fan.. I was overjoyed that Underworld felt and looked as good as it did.

But then I played the Demo for Mirror's Edge for PS3. Perhaps it had been far too many random-battle-encounters in Final Fantasy V, or the awkward combat system in the Witcher that had thrown me over the last few weeks, but I re-learned the word impressed.

It was like the first time you finally understood movement in the final segues of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time... It just.. felt... right.

At first there was confusion. L1 determines upward-movements, be it a jump, vault, or a wall run, and L2 determines downward movements.. crawling, sliding, dropping. R2 determined physical actions, bashing open a door, kicking an enemy in the face, that sort of thing, whilst triangle (or a six-axis upwards flick if you are so inclined) allowed Faith (the lovely games protagonist) to disarm an enemy.

Movement functions not assigned to the face keys?! What is this?

What it is, is an absolutely brilliant, intuitive method for getting Faith where you need to go as fast as you need her to get there. And suddenly, it all just worked. After missing more than a few jumps, slipping off a beam at least.. well.. who's counting, and dying numerous times, suddenly I had it. I was off like a gazelle being chased by an entire herd of lions, and yet somehow more graceful. Clearly DICE had put incredible amounts of effort into making Faith feel right.

So the controls were slick and Faith moved well. What made it feel good you ask? I remember a developer at Epic once mentioning that it was all about Player Feedback. What was the point of an explosion if the screen didn't shake? And so Faith's camera moves, swings, rolls, shudders and blurs appropriately as she zips around the skyline. As she begins to sprint her breathing starts to pick up, her footsteps start to hit the ground a little faster, and you can hear the sandy grip of her runner-shoe against the concrete as she launches from one roof-top to another.

It brought the question: Why do more developers not put such effort into making first-person (or any other) games feel this good? Granted, not many characters are quite as athletic as Faith, and they do have a gun-barrel to busy themselves with staring-down, but after feeling how smooth she could move, it really got me wondering.

After watching several developer interviews for Mirror's Edge, I begun to get a feel for how much work they had made into making sure Faith felt right to play. Not only did they conquer the challenge of having a visible body for the player to see, but they made sure that, even through animation challenges (such as how do you make a body at full sprint stop instantly), Faith would remain faithful (a-ha!) to her skill set and move the way they wanted her, without removing total control from the player.

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of games that have made an effort to feel right in first-person, titles such as Half-Life 2, and F.E.A.R. are good examples as such, just as Killzone 2 looks like it just might get gun-movement right. But these are just my propositions. Great audio, camera control, camera effects such as depth-of-field and radial blur, tactile movement and animation all must come together to make a player feel right in their protagonist's shoes.

So there you go. What games do you think have gotten player movement right?

Street Fighter IV... Lookin' Good

Okay, so I'm unashamedly a fan of the fighter genre... Oh how many hours I used to spend getting owned when I first started playing them (Hey.. I was only like.. 4.. poor motor skills I say) but when Street Fighter II came around, I finally found my place, somewhere between Chun Li's spinning bird kick and her meaty thighs I had found my place...

So when Street Fighter IV was announced, I was a bit.. meh, really. SFII and SFII: Turbo were for me the peak of the series... 3D fighting games haven't really ever been able to capture (for me at least) the feel of a 2D fighter.. But street fighter... is making amends...

The above is a video of Chun-Li taking on new character Viper... They move beautifully, it's very fluid.. and it's very.. Street Fighter.

Save us, Gordon

Okay... So the Large Hadron Collider didn't result in Hawking radiation and spawn a micro black hole to kill us all or portal in a dimension of demons etc... And with integral parts like Alice, CMS and ATLAS, the names are perfect for your next objective...

But if the news had lead us to believe what was right... who was going to answer the call? Who would save the planet?

Indeed, blog.reddit enclosed to CERN, a package containing a crow-bar, some life advice, and a note...

"Get this to Gordon Freeman. He'll know what to do."

Great Sadness

A tide of great sadness washes over Eddy and I at the knowledge of Ensemble closing... We both have loved the Age series since making our little Romans run around all those years ago in Age of Empires back in 1997, and have played every game since.

Ensemble have had an impressive track record with Microsoft Game Studios, but are now being closed down at the end of their current Xbox 360 project, Halo Wars.

Apparently Microsoft will be moving employees into a new game studio (maybe a restructure away from RTS? But then why couldn't this have been achieved with Ensemble? Marketing maybe?), and those who do not make the move to the new MGS studio will be put into as many positions within Microsoft as they can fill...

Perhaps this is the end of an Age...

MMO update: Chronicles of Spellborn

Well, since I know Aeon suffers a love hate relationship with the darling MMO genere, I thought I'd take it upon myself to post up some news semi-not-really-regularly.

Chronicles of Spellborn is a new fantasy MMO in development, slated for a release sometime this year. While boasting an interesting art style and a soundtrack by Within Temptation, the game also features some very different ways of playing through combat and the overall AI.

Combat in Spellborn is very different, and may cause some issues when introduced to latency. The player must actively target their enemy with their mouse, throwing away the traditionally passive and repeditive click and button mash technique for something far more involving.

The AI too is a source of interest, as creatures travel in groups, and act as any party would when attacked; the tank runs to the source, the healer stays in range of the tank and the caster will backpeddle and attempt to root the player. This creates a new dynamic in play style, and means utilising different skills and strategies for attacks will be necesarry as the game progresses.

Hopefully we'll see something new with Spellborn, and fingers crossed that it won't disappoint like so many others.

We <3 you, Bioware

Here is the latest trailer for Bioware's next game, an original IP named Dragon Age: Origins. The trailers from the GC convention are streaming in! All I can say is that it looks the way I think Neverwinter Nights II was meant to look!

We can all expect more information to come in from the convention on this title soon! I think bioware is becoming, if they weren't already, one of those developers with a nigh-on-perfect track record. With Neverwinter, Mass Effect, and the whole range of Black Isle games behind them, here's hoping Dragon Age will be another title in Bioware's A-Class lineup. It sure has come a long way!

Lara's Looking.. A little less like a man!

The first true gameplay trailer for the upcoming Tomb Raider: Underworld revealed plenty of things for us to see! The trailer is set in Thailand, with Lara (invariably) scouting around some ancient temple or other and uncovering something she really shouldn't (Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation anyone?).

What excited me most is that in action, Lara looks a little less like a man, and more like the Lara we all know and love... If you know what I mean... It's also the first chance we've had to see the game really in motion, outside of cutscenes and glimpses of gameplay inter-spliced in two-second shots in previous trailers. Anyway, go ahead and watch, and enjoy!

Force Unleashed Demo... August 21st!

Your salivating can start now, with the Force Unleashed demo set to prepare gamers in only a few days! LucasArts have announced their next Star Wars title will have a demo up on Xbox Live and PSN on the 21st of August!

We can't wait for this game, so the thought of getting our hands on it early is just a little... hot! The full game is expected to release in Australia on September the 17th. We await you!

Aion... It's hot

Here's the trailer of little known upcoming MMORPG by NCSoft, Aion. Not a lot to say except gosh-darn it looks pretty! Enjoy!

Batman!

Well, as a lover of the new Batman films, the old-school comics and Thief, I was absolutely thrilled to here that Eidos and Rocksteady Studios are making a new game for the series; Arkham Asylum.

Set in the insane asylum of Gotham City, home to the madmen and women that haunt the town, the player takes the role of Batman, sneaking and fighting their way out of a trap laid by the inmates and the Joker. There'll be sneaking, terror and gadetry, forcing the player to use all of their detective skills.

And the inmates? So far Joker and Croc are confirmed, as is my personal favourite Harley Quinn. Poison Ivy and the others are still maybes though, so fingers crossed for those childhood favourites.

The game will be coming out on the PS3, Xbox360 and the PC, and is slated to release sometime in 2009. Oh, and to make it even better, the script will be written by legend Paul Dini, so it should be fantastic!

Looking forward to some horribly scary moments, hehehe. XD

Greetings, Price

Oh the lamentations of those who sleep in. After kicking myself for a good 10 minutes this morning for sleeping in and missing my ride in and first lecture, I found a single positive.

JustJared have posted pics of Jake Gyllenhaal as Dastan, a 6th century Persian prince, soon to be accompanying the princess Tamina (where the f*** is Farah!?) to stop the Sands of Time being unleashed by the evil visier.

You can find more pics of Jake dressed as the prince here. Now you've seen it.. what do you think?

Rejoice in waste!

Brothers and Sisters of Steel (in Australia!) rejoice, for the wondrous Fallout 3 has been classified by the OFLC for Australian shores. We can now expect the game to land about a week after the US release (here on the 15th of October, US on the 7th) as it has passed classification!

No word on what was modified or cut from the game, after it was recently refused classification due to drug references (and the in-game direct use of morphine), and if it was a simple re-name of the drugs or if large chunks of the system have been removed (although I have enough faith in Bethesda's game ethics not to deprive us of such). The game is classified MA15+, based on "Strong Violence, Drug References and Coarse Language", which seems fine by me.

So prepare your hand-held atomic bomb launchers, your trekking boots for making your way through post-apocalypse downtown DC, and POSSIBLY your veins for some drug references. Oh god I hope this isn't misinterpreted horribly.

Fallout! We lust for you!

Diabolical Rainbow

Well, after travelling around the internet in my super purple box of inter-dimensional (eat your hearts out Dr. Who) travel, I have come to the conclusion that there is far too much interesting stuff out there that I can't even think of how to comment on.

So instead I'll just have a bit of a mindless rant!

First off, there's been a lot of complaining about Diablo 3's art direction; that it's too bright, too cartoony etc etc. Really, look outside the window and tell me what you see?
Blue sky maybe? Green trees? Perhaps it's autumn, and they're, oh I don't know... changing colour?
I personally think the art direction is rather nice, and since we've seen about two whole areas from the game, we shouldn't be screaming about how much it resembles a kiddy picture. I think it's atmospheric and realistic, and is a good move from the cliched 'this is a hack and slash game therefore the only colours used are black brown and red.'

Use some creativity people! There is nothing more boring in my eyes than the same colour scheme used over and over and over again until you're bleeding sepia. (for the record, there is nothing 'realistic' about making something brown and glowy)

Old school Diablo 2 was, yes, quite monotone in regards to colour. However, even I, in my sorcering greatness lost my character. Make quips about my vision if you must, but unless my character was wearing bright purple, or the beasties I was fighting were assisting my in painting the landscape red and chunky, it was a little hard to navigate around in certain bits.

Troll me if you must, but I really think people should keep their artistic pants on for a bit, at least until we know of a other few areas. Things can be scary, and still in colour.

It really WORKS.

For all those who have scoured the net (aka Google) to find diaries or logs of users progress on the Wii Fit, I'm happy to provide a link to one of the most successful ones out there! (Or that I have seen, other than the IGN Wii Fit blog)

Using only the Wii Fit, Wootini (the reviewer) has lost about 12kgs, and appears to have put on some muscle too! I guess this proves that the Wii Fit can actually make you fitter when you actually use it. If you wanted motivation to see if it can really work, it's the perfect example. You can read the whole article and view pictures here.

Congrats!!

Oh hai...

Meet the new Lara Croft. Yes, old stand in, the beautiful Karima Adebibe has been replaced by Alison Carroll (picture above). Eidos have announced the new real life counterpart to everyone's favorite (or most loathed) video game queen, Lara, for her upcoming game, Tomb Raider: Underworld.

Carroll beat out over a hundred other applicants for the role, and, like previous Laras, will have to take up an SAS course and Archaeology tutoring before she can fully take the roll.

Why the switch? The Tomb Raider franchise typically has a new model for each game they release, with the exception of Karima, who stood in for both TR: Legend and TR: Anniversary. Personally, the Legend Lara (both in game and real life) to me seems to be the hottest. The new Lara looks a bit like she used to be a Russian man (in the game.. not so much the new real life lara), and it's all in the brow and cheek bones! Little too harsh for me juxtaposed with the itty-bitty nose and small but full lips, but hey, it could all work out. You can find high-res pictures of the new lara here.

Hot Conan Cybersex

Here's a little something to make your day... It's not quite our follow up to our Age of Conan review, but it sure made me laugh. A GM was caught by a trolling player, after the player lured the GM into cybersex by telling him that he was a male avatar but was played by a female.

It really raises a few questions about the GM in question. 1/ as a GM, one would assume it's your job to find such action more than just a little dubious, and 2/ if you were cybering with a female in real life, who had a male avatar, would you really have an urge to get naked with said male avatar?

At any rate, the GM in question has apparently been fired, which, although bad for him, is to be expected as, with anyone else, he needs to act in a professional manner appropriate to his job. Then again it is Age of Conan, and all their trailers pre-release touted the "sexy" game. The full transcript can be found here.

Lets get wet!

I have loved Heavy Rain ever since Quantic Dream (of Fahrenheit fame) put out the theatrical trailer back in E3 2006. Heck, it was one of the reasons I wanted a PS3! (as a side note, I've loved Quantic Dream since Omikron, one of my favorite games of all time).

At any rate, long after that demo, Quantic Dream went dark. No press releases, no information, no trailers, no interviews, no nothing. Back in march this year, a few bits and pieces started to emerge, including the above video looking for artists. Now a few new screens have come out, which you can check out here, as well as some more information about the game.

Personally, I can't wait for heavy rain! It's time to get wet.

I'm in your Fable.. pwning ur covenant?

You just have to love unlockable outfits in games... Whether it's brand new g-strings in Dead or Alive 4... brand new g-strings in Soul Caliber 4... brand new g-strings in...

Er well, you get the picture! Heck, Altair in Metal Gear Solid 4 was still pretty damn cool... (although, did NOT have a g-string)

Latest on the list of games with cameo appearances is Master Chief appearing in Fable II... albeit in a somewhat period-ised version of his very well known spartan armor.

We reckon it's pretty cool. You can find more about this over on Loinhead (yeah, that's right, via the Lionhead forums) here.

The Joke That Is: E3

Okay... So the title may be a little harsh, but this year's E3 has been a sad comparison to the years before. In previous years, E3 was a massive entertainment expo held at the LA Convention Center, with 60000+ attendees, and was for us gamers, an absolute cavalcade of information about games, surprise announcements, and jaw dropping tech demos.

Every year, I would look forward to E3 both online and in local game magazines for giving me the best news of the year.... It seemed as if every publisher out there was striving to have the most impressive demonstration, and every publisher was putting out the big bucks to fill the booths with scantily clad booth babes (and.. once, a very scantily clad Conan.) This year... There were very few surprises, and quite a few of the big names (eg Vivendi, Activision (inc. Blizzard)) held their own conferences or chose to defer to having their displays at the GDC earlier this year.

2006 was the last year of the impressive press event that was E3, and was one of the most interesting and progressive things that there was to show... How many developers went into massive crunch periods to have that E3-award-stealing demo in the past? This year... The number of exclusive, and new E3 demos was... well.. minimal.. The only one that really stood out was Fallout 3.. Which was hot.

The ESA are now in discussions about how to restructure E3... If they even choose to continue the format.. Personally, I'd like to see a week long E3, which starts with the open floor of past E3s... Allowing a huge chunk of the industry to see up and coming games, annoucements, and their ilk, and then a two day, press-only follow up (after maybe 3 days of open floor) where there can be summary confrences and last-minute announcements (Hey... perfect time for the big surprises). What're your thoughts?

And... Expect a vlog veerrry soon *looks mysterious and is sure you're sick of this soon business*

*cough cough*

Well, it's a bit dusty around here, but I think we're set to get back up. I'm back from my adventure much wisened and enlightened, and ready to get some reviews done!

Though, I couldn't help posting this little pearl of gaming for a purpose, a subject that I think is pretty interesting and challenges us not only as players but people. Gaming is, as the Ludologists
would say, it's own medium and completely different from films or any other type of media, and this means it can achieve things that those media's cannot.

So on my adventures in the internet I found this:

Yes, that's right, join forces with John McCain in fighting those damn pigs! *sighs* I hold very little political opinion towards America, but this amuses me to no end. Is it just me, or does it remind you of the glory days of propaganda? Either way, enjoy and take it with a grain of salt. =P

Hopefully you'll be seeing Aeon and myself soon with a maybe review of Phoenix Wright and an update on Age of Conan's long term playability.

Updates... and news.. and a question!

Ahoy! AFK-Games is.. struggling to be alive! But we are, we are, don't worry! You won't see a video from us for a little while as Edrissa is wondering around Europe at the moment and hence we are unable to film.. together.. unless one of us puts some points into the "Teleport" skill...

Anyway, whilst Eddy is away, I'll post some text news and some bits and pieces... For this post, lately it has been reported that Fallout 3 could be possibly banned for classification in Australia due to the fact that the OFLC (our ratings advisors) do not currently have an R(18+) rating for games (unlike films etc). (Continue reading after the tears and anger have abaited...)

On the flipside, it looks like Dark Sector, a game previously banned here due to "excessive" violence (at least, it allowed the player to cut off limbs using the glaive weapon, bit by bit with extra precision.. to my awareness) is now looking at grading a toned down version, possibly a custom one, or the version that was released for Japan, and authorizing that for release...

Obviously, this raises a few points... in a very public attempt, recently, IGN AU attempted an endeavour to get the OFLC to introduce an R rating. Apparently, the OFLC are "open" to introducing a rating, and are looking for public opinion. Personally, I think the largest issue the game industry has here in terms of getting an R rating, is the simple fact that the board appear relatively uniformed about the games medium today.

A simple example was the massive (haha) Mass Effect blowout over the steamy hot alien sex. Although mostly an american issue, the game was suddenly on just about everything, even The View, and was reported as a "online sex simulator" that "enabled online rape" with hyper-realistic humans that allowed you to do whatever you wanted. Suddenly, the public (who are the ones who vote and are requierd to put forward their opinion) thought there was this game that existed that basically allowed players to live out sick sexual fetishes in all manners of realistic environments and that this was being marketed to children.

What they failed to note is that the sex in the game, was a short cutscene, where the player had no control, it showed either a butt or side-boob, and that it took about 15 hours of game time and an invested effort in talking too, and interacting with the NPC you are to be with, in an entertaining relationship side-plot (which was far deeper then the relationships we often see fleshed-out on screen in your average action flic), in an outcome that was far less graphic or gratuitous then previously described films.

Here, the public (well, those who often air their opinions, which I'll unfarely place with those who would watch A Current Affair or Today Tonight with a serious demeanour - i.e. boorish fools with IQ's less then their shoe sizes) seem to have a false understanding of any sort of mature game that falls outside of their experience (eg, Wii Sports). Instead of asking what do you think about the OFLC... What do you think about the public perception of video games? And how do you think that affects the OFLC's decisions about implementing an R rating? Do you think that the mass-public have a skewed image? Do you think that's changing?

Anyhow, more news to follow over the weeks, and a video review (possibly... of Phoenix Wright.. and again.. a follow up of the.. well, dissapointing, Age of Conan). See you all round!

AFK is slightly.. afk...

Well, you may be wondering where our vlogs are, and there's a pretty simple explanation. Both Aeon and myself have been busily studying for our university exams and assignments, so when they're over hopefully we'll be able to submit SOMETHING for you guys.

Sorry again about the break, but soon I'll be making a post about my current addiction and a status report on Age of Conan.

Vlog No. 2!

Did you know that two is the first prime number?

It is also the number of our second epsiode, which you can find here. We dicuss all things Wii Fit, as well as take a rather non-in-depth look at GTA 4 and sing it's praises and why Aeon didn't like it (well.. the small bits I didn't).

Also, links to be found! Find information about BMI issues and the Wii Fit here...

Hope you enjoy! We promise to be healthy next time... If you feel like it, we love feedback (most of it... telling us to make a sex tape was rather... humorous.. but not so constructive) leave us a comment on our blog or videos, or send us a message to our youtube account, youtube.com/AFKGames.

Tuesday Night News Tidbits

Welcome to Tuesday Night Tidbits.. Is it regular? Who knows! All I do know is that I have some pointless yet interesting-to-talk-about game news for you all!

First is the (not so new) news that MGS-4 will feature multiple 90-minute cutscenes [TVG]! MGS Snake Eater was known to feature 45-minute plus cut scenes.. but 90 minutes is the length of your average feature film...

Thankfully they'll be pausable, rewindable, and fast forwardable, and you can save mid way.. But it's still a hell of a long ride! Personally.. I look forward to every minute.

In other news, the game we recently looked at in our vlog, Age of Conan, has become one of the fastest selling games of all time on the PC [CVG], selling 400,000 copies so far since release. The game had over a million beta applications. Apparently, it still pales in comparion to the charge WoW had in opening sales.

Next, there's a first look at the new Prince of Persia over at IGN, which may interest you. Semi-open world, non linear, decision based plot that's beautiful and stays true to PoP:SoT? Unexpected, to say the least, but at least reassures me that we won't get another Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. (Eddy had tears over that game, I swear)

More controversy over the ESA (dudes who ran the once-awesome E3...), as iD has pulled out of the lineup [Kotaku], joining a host of other developers, such as Activision, Viviendi and Lucas Arts. What will this years E3 be like? Dissapointing? Probably... But with the Game Developers Conference becoming larger each year it looks like we may have to rely on that amongst other things (such as the recent Playstation Day) for all our big announcements.

And, lastly, and most importantly... THERE ARE NEW SCREENS FOR HELLO KITTY ONLINE. Find all the Hello Kitty Online graphical pleasures here [IGN].

Episode 1 is out!

And in two rather sizeable chunks. Aeon and myself had a lot of difficulty shutting up, testament to how much we enjoy the game Age of Conan. =P

Thanks for all the supportive comments and views so far, hope you guys enjoyed our little chat. Also we're aware of the sound issues, and we'll be trying to get our hands on a proper mic soon. Turns out my laptop mic isn't as powerful as suggested!

We also got a message from the most awesome Grant Regan of Funcom, who's artistc skills have helped mould the world of Tarantia! He said he'd put in a good word for us Aussies, so there may be hope for an Oceanic server yet. Thanks Grant!!

Hope to see you all again soon, stay tuned.

P.S. Here's some proof you can be truly hideous on Age of Conan:
It is called, Tootsie.

Prince of Persia Rumblings

Witness the wonders of cel shaders...
Well.. This is my first post! What is the above image? It is (to me, sadly at least, but I'll wait for the outcome) an unofficial screenshot from the next-gen (or is that current-gen) Prince of Persia game, PoP: Prodigy. A whole bunch of the new screenshots can be found here. Looks like the new prince is certainly pretty... But has a whole new art direction. What're your thoughts?

In other PoP news, it has been annouced that Jake Gyllenhall will be playing the prince in the new Sands of Time movie, and Gemma Arterton will be playing the love interest. Let's hope they at least don't call her "Farah". In my memory, farah wasn't exactly a fair skinned brit. At least I can settle with Jake.. Much better then earlier rumors of Zac Efron. *shudder*

Aside from the general PoP news, I guess I should post something about me. I'm currently a student studying Computer Science and all the fun that ensues from coding, I'm completely a PC fanboy regardless of the fact I'm usually game-medium neutral and own a 360, PS3, and DS. I have an unhealthy obsession with FPS, RPGs (including MMO's), Strategy Games, and "action" titles, and outside of games (shock! Unheard of!) I also do hip hop and find visits to the gym/rock climbing center rather cathardic.

What else... I dabble a bit in game design (I use the word dabble lightly) and for some reason love all things Unreal Engine, Deus Ex is probably my favourite game of all time, aand I think that's about all you need to know about me for now.

Expect our first vlog sometime in the next two days, covering our first impressions of Age of Conan! You'll be able to find it here, or on our youtube channel, www.youtube.com/AFKGames. If you like it, make sure you check back for more as we continue to build and update!

Greetings earthlings!

Or something to that effect.

Either way, hello great wide internet world, this is Edrissa speaking! Mainly out of boredom, but speaking nonetheless. I'd like to welcome you to our humble blog, which as yet has very little to do with anything. Hopefully, this'll change.
Aeon and myself will be supplying you with information regarding games, more games, gaming culture, news etc. We hope that you'll enjoy our little presentations over time!

First off a little briefing about my current status. I'm a games student working with NwN2 at the moment to create a mod. The toolset is horrific; it's unstable, glitches and creates bugs that make no sense. The only good thing is the conversation editor, which still gives me a slight headache. Nevertheless I'll persevere; I don't really feel like failing.

What else, what else... Oh yes! I've been playing MMORPG's for some time now, and have settled into Lord of the Rings: Online quite happily. I'm also playing a bit of Age of Conan, as is Aeon, and we'll be giving you guys a run down of how it rates soon. Apart from that, not very much is news worthy at the moment.

There should be a review up sometime next week at the latest, so till then, play safe. =P
